This orange perennial hot pepper is also known as orange manzano pepper, given that it is the size and shape of an apple under ideal conditions. They are about 2x as hot as Jalapeno peppers and can be used as spicy stuffed peppers given there bell pepper shape. They are also known as Naranja Rocoto.

Though the pepper cant withstand a frost, it can handle very cool climates and therefore will grow year after year in USDA Zone 9-11 (some say 8 but would need micro-climate or protection). Amazing addition to your food forest, this pepper has huge foot print and after 2 years it can turn into a huge sprawling bush. Peppers mature in winter usually and in warmer climates in fall. Can be pruned to one main trunk to grow over 10 ft tall or left to sprawl over 6ft+ area.
