Alwood Grape (Vitis sp.) is a dark blue-black grape similar to Concord, only ripening 3 weeks earlier and having larger berries. Strong, sweet labrusca aroma and flavor can be smelled from a distance when ripe. Very productive, often having 3 clusters to a shoot. Shrot interstems make for a compact growth that is good for small spaces and can and container growing. From Virginia Polytechnic Institute it has a high level of disease resistance and is cold hardy zones 5-9.
