Van Deman Quince (Cydonia oblonga) makes beautiful, large, waxy yellow- orange, oblong to pear shaped fruit has pale yellow flesh with a pleasant aromatic and spicy flavor. A very high yielding tree it is also considered to be one of the hardiest varieties. Ripens earlier than most quince in September. Selected by Luther Burbank in 1891 out of trials of over 50,000 seedlings. Self fertile tree is hardy zones 5-10.
