Job Summary:
The Planting Justice Care Coordinator will work with the PJ Re-Entry Coordinator to support individuals in re-entry with their needs, build networks of healing justice practitioners and institutional supporters, maintain an up-to-date list of local resources, build relationships with school counselors, offer individual support to staff and youth interns, and attend meetings to offer community resources and support to staff. The coordinator will also send out a weekly “Wellness Wednesday” game-plan, be a standing member on the PJ Staff Meeting Planning Committee, and deliver quarterly reports to PJ operations.

Responsibilities of the Care Coordinator

• Work closely with PJ Re-Entry Coordinator to support folks in re-entry with their individual needs and goals
  * Train Re-Entry coordinator in techniques of healing
  * Attend weekly meeting between re-entry coordinator, Co-director, and Director of Operations
• Build a network of healing justice practitioners from a variety of modalities (therapists, counselors, herbalists, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, spiritual advisors, etc.) who are interested and willing to provide support to PJ staff, and refer staff and youth interns as needed
• Build a network of institutional supporters (low-cost housing providers, emergency housing providers, medical providers, mental health professionals, etc.), and refer staff and youth interns as needed
• Keep an up-to-date list of local resources that individuals can draw upon to find support around health, healing, and healing justice issues
  * All resources need to be accessible to all staff and up-to-date
  * In collaboration with the Education Team, build strong relationships with school teachers and counselors
  * Maintain open office hours on a weekly basis to offer individual support to staff and youth interns around health, healing, and healing justice issues
• Maintain open lines of communication with Leadership Council members, team leads, youth mentors/educators, and other staff leaders who can help identify when members of PJ’s staff/community need extra support
• Attend bi-monthly staff meetings, monthly nursery and other PJ site meetings, and the beginning of each youth internship (introduce Skill Will Hill intern form) to offer community resources, introductory trainings, and individual support to PJ staff about health, healing, and healing justice issues
  * Be a standing member on the PJ Staff Meeting Planning Committee
• Send out a ‘Wellness Wednesday’ game-plan for the week to all staff via email by Tuesday morning and allow people at each site to execute the activity
• Deliver confidential quarterly reports to PJ operations that generally outline the services and resources provided during that time-frame.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong commitment to land-based healing, indigenous land sovereignty, social, racial, gender, and economic justice
• Basic understanding of challenges in the food system and food justice efforts aiming to
• Dismantle systems of oppression
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of a variety of healing modalities
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
• Formerly incarcerated OR experience working with currently or formally incarcerated community members
• Experience working with trauma-informed healing and addiction
• Positive outlook & solutions-oriented
• Active listening, emotional intelligence, and respectful communication skills
• Strong written communication skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Fluency in Spanish and English
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
• On call nights and weekends

Education and Experience:

• A masters of social work degree~experience weighs in heavily
• 6 – 9 years of experience working with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals

Physical Requirements:

• Walking short distances

• Handling/grasping documents or office equipment
• Sitting and/or standing for short or extended periods of time
• Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone
• Vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data
• Repetitive motions for computer equipment use
• Requires exertion of force of 25-40 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and/or 5 pounds continuously to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents
• Work is performed primarily in an office/home (remote); outdoors (farm); yurt (nursery) and environments using standard office equipment

Compensation and Benefits:

• Minimum salary rate for the position of Planting Justice Care Coordinator begins at $35.00 per hour [PT $36,400 per year +/-] to $45.00 per hour (PT$47,400 per year +/-), with room for negotiation based on experience, with a 3% increase in annual pay per year.
• Annual professional development stipend of $500, plus other paid training opportunities.
