Valley Oak aka California White Oak (Quercus lobata) is the largest oak in North America, this California native can grow to150 feet tall, have a trunk up to 9 feet in diameter and live to 600 years old. A variety of white oak its acorns are used to make nutritious acorn meal and are much relished by many types of wildlife. Biggest specimens grow on deep bottom land soils, but also makes beautiful groves in upland sites.
