Big Vic’s Love Supreme Tree Collard (Organic)
$11.00
We are blessed to release this amazing green tree collard selection in honor of our beloved co-worker Victor Brazelton. This tree collard is the closest thing we have to a perennial tree collard version of a southern green collard. It has tendency to branch and will get a huge fat stalk, the largest we have ever seen on a green tree collard. It will lightly flower and continue on producing white veined, dark green wavy tree collard for years and years! Hardiness is unknown since it has only been growing in Oakland for the last 12 years. This tree collard does best if it is staked to a post or tied to a fence.
Plant Size: 10″ plus
Pot Size: 4×6 or 4 inch pot depending on season

More About this Collard
This collard was selected from crossing a variety of Collards at Dover St Edible Park in North Oakland, Ca. The original seed was gifted by a neighborhood elder and from there the plants flowered and selections were made for the most hardy, low water use, snail resilient tree collard. The cool thing about this collard is that root nodules will sometimes form at the base of the nodes after the 1st year, making it easier to root. Originally named Dover FTP Collard, it was renamed in honor of Victor Brazelton, our operations director for Planting Justice. Victoria was a big guy with a big heart and he loved his people fiercely, loved life, and loved jazz music.
