Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) (Organic)

Weight 13 oz
Dimensions 10 × 11 × 12 in

Also known as goatnut or deernut, Jojoba produces 3/4″ long edible nuts that have a flavor similar to filberts after being roasted. The nuts have a high concentration of oil that is pressed and used for cosmetics and other uses. Native to the deserts of Arizona, Southern California and Mexico it is highly drought resistant and now being grown commercially in arid areas. Is also being planted in efforts to stop desertification in India. Jojoba grows 3 to 6 feet tall and is densely foliated with gray-green leaves. It is an important food plant for both native and domestic browsers. Male and female flowers are on seperate plants, so for nut production it is best to plant at least 3 plants to guarantee having both sexes. Hardy zones 8 to 10, Jojoba has been known to survive temperatures down to 15 degrees when established. Best to protect smaller plants from heavy freezing.
