Wang Qu Sanyao (Dr. Yao) Chinese Yam (Dioscorea batatas) (Organic)

Also Known as Wild Yam and Cinnamon Vine it has been grown for centuries by the Chinese who savor it both as a tonic food and for its many medicinal uses. A perennial vine growing up to 12 feet tall in a season it dies down to the ground after frost and then resprouts again when the weather warms in the spring. Sweet delicious tubers can grow up to 3 feet long and are good baked, fried or made into soups. Dark shiny green foliage is attractive in the garden and can be used for a screen. Very cold hardy down to minus 25 F it can be grown in zones 5-10.
