Dioscorea polystachya, called Chinese Yam, Cinnamon-vine, Nagaimo, is a large herbaceous perennial vine with cinnamon-scented flowers in spring. Produces a large edible tuber after a few years, plus annual harvest of small aerial edible “potatoes” on the vine. Easy to grow and suitable for most soil types. USDA Hardiness Zone 5+. Can be weedy and invasive in some areas of the states.
